Solange Ingabire is a refugee rights advocate, strategist, and storyteller committed to reshaping narratives around displacement while advancing refugee leadership and youth empowerment.
Her work focuses on creating spaces where refugee voices are not only heard but actively shape the systems, policies, and programs that affect their communities. Through advocacy, program strategy, and community engagement, she works to ensure that young people from displaced and marginalized backgrounds have access to opportunities, platforms, and resources that enable them to thrive.
Solange is the co-founder of Refugee Youth Changemakers, a youth-led initiative dedicated to expanding educational and leadership pathways for displaced youth. In this role, she collaborates with various institutions and community organizations to bridge gaps in higher education, mentorship, and professional development. Beyond her direct advocacy, she serves as a strategic advisor, helping organizations design youth-centered programs that prioritize equity, sustainability, and community leadership. Her advisory work focuses on program strategy and impact-focused storytelling that elevates the voices of refugee communities.
A central pillar of Solange’s work is storytelling and narrative change. She utilizes digital storytelling and community engagement to challenge dominant narratives of vulnerability, instead highlighting the resilience, innovation, and leadership inherent in refugee populations. As a global thought leader, she regularly engages with policymakers and advocates across international platforms to promote inclusive systems. By bridging grassroots community engagement with global policy dialogue, she effectively connects lived experiences with institutional change to shape solutions for global challenges.
Solange brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to her work, holding a degree in Agricultural Engineering and currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Technology at Kentucky State University. Her academic background allows her to explore how climate change and environmental challenges intersect with migration and refugee experiences. This global outlook is further strengthened by her multilingual abilities, as she is fluent in English, Spanish, and Kinyarwanda. Her ability to communicate across cultures enables her to engage diverse audiences and connect communities across various global contexts.
