Solange Ingabire Named a Millennium Fellow

Solange Ingabire was selected as a Millennium Fellow for the Class of 2022, an initiative of the United Nations Academic Impact and the Millennium Campus Network that supports students advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At the time, Solange was studying Agricultural Engineering at EARTH University in Costa Rica, where she developed and led a project focused on environmental sustainability.

Her Millennium Fellowship project, EcoSave, was created to raise awareness about plastic pollution and promote sustainable environmental practices aligned with SDG 14 – Life Below Water.

The project focused on educating communities about the dangers of plastic waste in oceans and water bodies, encouraging people to reduce single-use plastics and adopt environmentally responsible behaviors.

Through EcoSave, Solange aimed to contribute to the protection of marine ecosystems and biodiversity while promoting sustainable practices within communities.

Reflecting on her participation in the fellowship, Solange shared that the program offered valuable opportunities for personal growth, collaboration, and global impact.

The Millennium Fellowship allowed her to connect with other student leaders committed to addressing pressing global challenges while strengthening her leadership and advocacy skills.
