Solange Ingabire was selected to participate in the Women Deliver Emerging Leaders Program, a global initiative that supports young advocates working to advance gender equality and the rights of women and girls.
As a passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture and the inclusion of displaced youth, Solange continues to champion opportunities for young refugees—especially young women—who face barriers to education, leadership, and participation.
As co-founder of Refugee Youth Changemakers, Solange has helped empower more than 1,000 refugee youth by amplifying their voices and advocating for their rights and opportunities. Her work centers on creating spaces where young people from displaced communities can access education, leadership development, and platforms to influence decisions that affect their futures.
Beyond her organizational leadership, Solange serves on the Youth Advisory Committee for the Displaced and Refugee Youth Enabling Environment Mechanism (DREEM) Project, supported by the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). In this role, she contributes insights and recommendations that help strengthen youth-led programming and refugee inclusion initiatives.
Solange is also a Mastercard Foundation Scholar, currently pursuing her undergraduate studies in Agricultural Sciences at EARTH University in Costa Rica. Her academic interests intersect with environmental sustainability and community development. She has also contributed to biochar production research at Cornell University’s ECOLAB, exploring sustainable agricultural practices.
Recognized globally for her work, Solange was named a Young Champion for Refugees by UNHCR and led the 2023 UNHCR Young Champions delegation at the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva.
Through her advocacy, leadership, and dedication to community empowerment, Solange continues to inspire young refugee women to overcome barriers and pursue opportunities that transform their lives and communities.
